The Lavender
Miracle
In 2025, the special exhibition “The Lavender Miracle” at Sensoria – The House of Fragrances and Flavours – revealed just how versatile a single plant can be. Over several months, a diverse programme showcased the many ways lavender influences art, music, science, and everyday life.
A Look Back

A Concert for All the Senses
The opening event featured “The Sound of Scent”, a concert by pianist Hyelee Clara Chang that captivated audiences. Within the exhibition space, music and fragrance merged into a truly multi-sensory experience. Visitors outside could also enjoy the performance through the display window – accompanied by a summery atmosphere and a glass of Lavender Sprizz.
Art You Can Smell
From June onwards, olfactory art took centre stage. Artist Camilla Nicklaus-Maurer presented her installation “Lavender Olfactory Art”, demonstrating how lavender can transform spaces. The exhibition was complemented by works from perfumers Alicia de Benito Cassadó and Attiya Setai of the Symrise Perfumery School, who used scent itself as an artistic material.

Knowledge and Practice Around Lavender
Beyond art and music, the the special exhibition offered numerous workshops and lectures. Axel Meyer, founder of TAOASIS Natur Duft Manufaktur, spoke about the cultivation, effects, and applications of lavender in aromatherapy. Additional events explored the literary and culinary aspects of the plant – from wild herb tastings to lavender wreath workshops.
